Meet Lindsey

Knowing oneself comes from attending with compassionate curiosity to what is happening within”
Gabor Mate

The type of clients that Lindsey works best with:

Couples

I work with couples who are navigating both the day-to-day challenges of life together and the deeper transitions that can shape a relationship. I enjoy working with couples because it creates space not only to understand each other better, but also to begin understanding yourself in a new way.
I am especially drawn to supporting couples through infertility, miscarriage, and adoption. These experiences can have a profound impact, both individually and as a couple, and it can be easy to start feeling disconnected from one another. I want to support couples in finding their way back toward each other during these difficult experiences.
It is truly incredible to see couples make the choice to turn to each other, even in the middle of something so difficult. There is something powerful about building support, compassion, and love for each other during those times.

Individuals

I work with individuals who are feeling unsure of who they are or where they are going, especially when life has not unfolded the way they expected. This can show up as burnout, career stress, or feeling disconnected from yourself.
I am also passionate about supporting individuals navigating infertility, miscarriage, adoption, the transition into parenting, and parenting itself. These experiences are unique to each individual and can carry a lot emotionally, leaving you feeling overwhelmed or unsupported. It is my goal to help you feel less alone in these isolating experiences.

Lindsey uses the following Therapeutic Modalities in her work with clients
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) - Currently Training
EFCT helps couples recognize the negative patterns they get stuck in, patterns that keep them feeling disconnected or misunderstood. Rather than staying at the surface, this approach gets to the heart of why partners feel stuck or alone. Couples learn how to tune in to each other’s deeper emotional needs, repair trust, and build a stronger, more secure bond. The goal is to move from cycles of conflict or distance into new, more responsive and connected ways of relating.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is based on the idea that we all have different “parts” within us, like an inner critic, a people-pleaser, or a protector, and that each part has a reason for being there. Sometimes those parts carry pain or take on extreme roles to help us cope. In IFS, people learn to gently explore and understand their inner world with curiosity, not judgment. The goal is to help each part feel heard and supported, and to strengthen the calm, wise core of self that can lead with compassion and clarity.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy focuses on the stories we carry about ourselves and our lives. Sometimes those stories are shaped by pain, problems, or outside messages, and they can keep us feeling stuck. This approach helps people step back from the problem, recognize their strengths, and re-author a story that better reflects who they are and what matters to them. It’s about reclaiming your voice and reshaping the meaning you give to your experiences.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting or avoiding them. At the same time, it supports them in moving toward what truly matters, relationships, values, purpose, even when life feels hard. The approach combines mindfulness, values-based living, and practical strategies to help people feel more grounded, flexible, and connected to what gives their life meaning.
Clients that Appreciate Lindsey’s Therapeutic Approach tend to be:
  • Couples who want to stay together but feel emotionally disconnected, stuck in painful cycles of blame, withdrawal, or criticism, and are looking for a path back to connection.
  • Couples and individuals seeking a warm, authentic, and compassionate counsellor.
  • Partners who are ready to look inward, exploring how their own emotions, patterns, and attachment needs are shaping the relationship, rather than focusing on changing their partner.
  • Couples and individuals who are navigating infertility, miscarriage, and adoption and the trauma, grief, and emotional instability that come with this journey.
  • Individuals or couples carrying the weight of past relational trauma or attachment injuries, who are curious about how those experiences still echo in the way they connect with others.
  • Couples navigating major life transitions, such as becoming parents, facing illness, career shifts, or retirement, and seeking to stay emotionally connected through the changes.
  • People who value emotional intimacy and want more than surface-level strategies, seeking to understand the roots of their struggles and build lasting, meaningful change.
  • Those willing to slow down, tune into vulnerable emotions, and engage in thoughtful, transformative work as a way to foster growth, healing, and closeness.
  • Parents who are navigating the challenges faced by families created through adoption.

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about mental health?

Mental health is often treated like something we should keep to ourselves or push through, but it is a real and important part of our lives. I believe there is no shame in taking time to understand yourself, whether you are working through something painful or wanting to grow.

I am drawn to approaches like EFCT, IFS and Narrative Therapy because they help create space for deeper understanding and change, so you can move toward a way of living that feels more genuine and aligned with who you are.

My work is grounded in an attachment-based and emotion-focused approach. This means we look at how your experiences and relationships have shaped the way you understand yourself, your emotions, and your connections with others. Rather than only focusing on coping strategies, we work toward deeper understanding and lasting change.

Professional Background

I was born and raised in Penticton, BC, and spent many holidays in Calgary, AB, visiting my grandparents. From a young age, I loved sitting with them and hearing about their lives and experiences. I have always been drawn to people’s stories, and that curiosity eventually led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in journalism. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors fishing and hiking with my family, and cooking. I also love animals and share my home with two cats and two dogs.

While completing my undergrad, I had the opportunity to try my hand at sales, where I worked closely with couples and families as they built and moved into their homes. What I noticed over time was that this gave me that same opportunity to get to know people and their unique stories.

I found myself drawn to understanding what individuals, couples, and families were going through and to connecting with people in a genuine way. That pull is what led me to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

My own lived experience with infertility, miscarriage, and adoption has also shaped the work I do. Through my own story, I developed a deep appreciation for compassionate curiosity and authentic connection. It also shaped a strong desire to support others navigating this complex and deeply personal journey, one that can be both incredibly challenging and, at times, unexpectedly beautiful.

This is a journey that can be difficult to understand if you have not walked it yourself and one that looks different for every person. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can experience and make sense of the full range of emotions that come with it, both painful and joyful.
